Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a common occurrence in patients with burns injury and portends a poor prognosis. In established AKI, the management is largely supportive and Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) may be required in management of such cases. Delivery of RRT in burns AKI poses certain unique challenges including vascular access, modality selection, anticoagulation, fluid balance and drug dosing. The AKI & RRT Workshop aims to address issues with AKI and RRT in burns and will include a theory and a practical session. The workshop will allow the participants to plan, prescribe and deliver therapy in a simulation scenario. The participants will also learn to operate the RRT machine and to troubleshoot alarms.
